Scuba Smurf goes diving......

The PADI IDC in Costa Rica continued here in Quepos with some open water presentations today. As luck would have it, after a beautiful day yesterday, the day we decided to head out onto the open ocean for our first open water assignments, it was rainy, windy and cloudy which didn't make for great conditions, but as I always say to the students, work with what you've got and if the conditions are not perfect, it will make you a better instructor. Everyone did good though and and even though we got a bit cold by the end of it we all learned a lot, including watching for current on the surface whilst trying to keep control of your class! This afternoon we went into our second classroom presentation. I had presented a challenge when setting the assignments of using either scuba smurf or the mini aquarium as training aids. Everyone rose to the occasion and scuba smurf got to go swimming and diving during class. We finished the day off with a selling workshop. We did some role playing to practice positive sales techniques we was very interesting, with some successful selling of liftbags, flashlights and even a computer sale to an interesting honeymoon couple with bad jamaican accents...don't ask!! Tomorrow, back to the pool and classroom. Sunday is definitely not the day of rest for the IDC!!
